Aug 27, 2021, News update on the “Fall Show”:
Hello Artists of MN Members,
Postponement of our 2021 Art by the River Show & Conference:
All the artists on the Show Committee are saddened to report that we have chosen to postpone the 2021 show and conference. It was not an easy decision since we had so many of the pieces in place and an excellent venue. But the conditions related to the Covid-19 virus have changed including increasing rates of infection and hospitalizations in our local communities due to the new variant. We have high risk factors here, according to the CDC and inadequate vaccination rates in the area. We value the safety of our artists and the community first and foremost. We are frustrated because we were so close this time! The Park Event Center has graciously accepted this late change with the promise of an exciting event in the spring of 2022. We plan to keep all the features of our 2021 schedule. I learned just today that the St. John’s Bible tour is in the process of going virtual for the fall. This confirms that we have made a good but painful decision. Please remember to cancel your reservation if you have booked a room. If you have sent in your registration your payment will be returned to you. Keep working on new art and we will look forward to better times ahead!

OLD – July 8 2021, News update on the “Fall Show“:We are forging ahead with plans for the Art by the River fall show and conference at Park Event Center in St. Cloud October 1-3. The missing piece has been the St. John’s Bible Tour. That tour has been secured now. We have finally put together essentially the same show originally planned for May of 2020. It has been a story of many steps forward and back. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
Accommodations are excellent at the Park Event Center, with ground level parking and a great block room rate. The hotel and event center is west of downtown in Waite Park. Visit the website at https://theparkeventcenter.com The good performance with
the vaccines has led to the opening of the Paramount Art Center and many of the restaurants in the area. The Mavericks restaurant in the hotel, should be available for our earlier arrivals to socialize.
Our juror, Pat Undis, should provide some exciting tips for successful acrylic painting during her demo Sunday. Pat is a signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and the Minnesota Watercolor Society. She has won numerous
awards for her watercolors and taught art for 32 years. She has done many successful acrylic landscapes and abstracts as well. You can see more of her work at https://patundis.com
Demo artists for the event are Duane Barnhart and Patricia Lintner. Please see August’s Palette News for more information on all three demo artists.
2021 Guidelines, Registration forms, and Schedules for the show are linked below. We look forward to seeing you all in October!
